To all My Students...
Welcome to my chemistry class! My target is to introduce you to the fantastic world of chemistry and relate it to the real world. Like many little bricks come together and make a beautiful building, chemistry talks about how the tiny building blocks make everything in the universe. Chemistry will open a new door for you to view the world. I am glad to accompany you on that journey.
I believe everyone is capable of learning chemistry. Therefore, I would not lower the bar for you. However, I will provide enough support for you to succeed in this class, but I can not address your issue if I do not know them.
Learning science can feel challenging at times, even if you are a strong student. I have struggled to learn science, too, especially chemistry. Speaking from personal experience, being "smart" will help you get through about 10% of the content here. The rest will be comprised of hard work ethic and perseverance. Also, if you are struggling in chemistry, that means you are pushing yourself to learn and grow. If you are not struggling at all, then you are in your comfort zone and not growing. Therefore, if you are struggling, keep on trying and talk to me, and I will always try to work with you to be successful. Therefore, be proactive, have a positive attitude, give your best effort, show respect to everyone in the class, and I am sure we will have a fun school year!

To all my concerned Parents/Guardians...
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Here is where you can get a glimpse of my class and me. I am very excited to get to work with my new students. I know that all of you are working hard to ensure your child is happy and safe. My goal is to ensure their chemistry learning and social-emotional growth. In my class, we explore the invisible world of the building blocks of everything in our universe.
I am Wahedul Khan, teaching CP chemistry and Honors Chemistry at Rancho Mirage High School. Usually, students from 10th grade and above can take this class. I hope that at the end of the school year, every student from my class has earned proficiency in all sections of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
My usual class starts with a warm-up to review old materials. Next, I usually give a short lecture/demonstration followed by an interactive simulation or small group activity. Finally, I typically close my day with an exit ticket that assesses what the students have absorbed from the class. It also gives me an idea about what I may need to reteach. Lab days will focus mainly on lab work. My labs and tests focus on assessing their mastery of the NGSS standards and how well they can apply the concepts in real life. I am a firm believer in relating every idea of my class to my student's everyday life to teach how chemistry impacts their communities' lives.
If your student needs any unique accommodation, please let me know as soon as possible. The contact information page of this website will give you information about how to reach me. Under class page, there is an online resource page. It has links to the websites that I will be using as a part of the instruction. By the contract with the school district, I am obligated to follow their disciplinary rules and regulations. Please know that foul language, cheating, disrespect, and bullying are not tolerable in my class. I want my classroom to promote harmony, kindness, and empathy and expect my students to uphold that at all times. For more information, please take some time to read through the class syllabus.
Thank you for entrusting your child with our school. I am looking forward to entering another fantastic school year with them.
